Piezo Product Applications

CTS Electronic Components Inc., manufactures a wide range of piezoelectric elements utilizing our proprietary PZT material formulations. Our focus has been on specific solutions to our customers requirements. For many of our customers we are their sole source. Our piezo-elements are used in the following applications:

Medical Ultrasound Imaging Transducers
Our high density formulations have a proven track record in this industry. We have been a leading/premier supplier since 1985. Our material has the ability to be precisely machined into very tall, narrow structures which exhibit superior mechanical strength.

Piezo Ink Jet Heads
We have 15 years of development experience in this application. Again, our high density formulations offer a significant advantage to our customers in building these types of structures.

Hydrophones
Piezo-transducers that are used to receive acoustic signals underwater. These transducers are used to detect underwater oil reserves. CTS material is used because of its high sensitivity and our ability to provide high volume products.

Micro pumps
Miniature compressors, pumps and synthetic jet products.

Vibration control
Piezo-actuators are activated 180° out of phase to dampen incoming mechanical vibrations. These actuators have been used in skis and tennis rackets to enhance performance.

Bimorphs
A metal sheet bonded between 2 piezo-elements to create a high displacement/low force transducer. Applications include piezo-valves, piezo-fans, and low load actuators.

Actuators
Piezo-elements where high displacement, high repeatability is necessary. These are devices that use the converse piezoelectric effect where electrical signal is converted to precise mechanical displacement.

Smart/Intelligent Sensors
Sensors that can sense changes in environment and utilizes control/feedback system that allows it to adapt to these changes.

CTS knowledgeable experts are constantly enabling improvement in our product portfolio by developing new materials, processes and improvement in our manufacturing capability.
