CTS currently provides a two-piece linear position
sensor to one of the world's leading manufacturer of turbochargers in the
light vehicle market. In combination with other technologies such as direct
injection and automatic stop-start, the OEM is able to reduce emissions and
increase fuel economy by 15% on this particular application.
According to an independent research publication, the
market for turbochargers is expected to nearly double from around 22M in
2010 to nearly 40M by 2015. The use of turbochargers allow OEMs the ability
to downsize their engine by as much as 30% while delivering comparable
amounts of torque and power as their predecessors. Capable of operating in
temperatures in excess of 150°C and measuring linear travel of over 20mm,
our 586 series two-piece linear position sensor is customized to meet the
high demands of this particular application.
