CTS Interconnect Systems Formally Launches
Partnership Alliance Plans with Alliance Day

Glasgow, Scotland, U.K.…A group of global electronic component manufacturers, with links to Scotland, are meeting today to formally launch an innovative "partnership Alliance program," which has already led to the group winning multi-million pound orders from their customer base.

Senior representatives from all partners will be travelling from Asia, Europe and North America to the headquarters of CTS Interconnect Systems in Hamilton-the driving force behind the Alliance-to define common business strategies for the next year.

The partnership Alliance program was developed in May 2001 by CTS Interconnect, one of the world's largest manufacturers of backplane assemblies for electronics hardware, in response to the growing market demand for Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) providers to supply vertically integrated electronic assemblies from a global manufacturing and engineering base.

CTS developed the partnership Alliance program initially with Pentair, Inc. (the world's largest provider of custom enclosures), and extended the program to include PPC Electronic AG and WUS Printed Circuit Co., Ltd., best-in-class suppliers of high-end and volume PCBs, respectively, as well as Amphenol, one of the largest and most technically advanced cable design and manufacturers worldwide.
Crucial to the success of this program has been the addition of the logistics organisation EGL Eagle Global Logistics, whose location and experience in over 100 countries will allow product manufacture and distribution in the short timeframe demanded by customers in today's electronic industry.

One of the competitive factors of the partnership program will be the implementation of web-enabled software that will lead to rapid response and communication between all of the partners regardless of global location.

Ian Archer, CTS Interconnect Systems vice president and general manager, said: "The Alliance is an innovative and comprehensive approach to exploiting new markets, technologies and opportunities with world-class partners, whilst remaining focused on our own core competencies. The Alliance day will enhance these relationships, allow focus on future activities and allocate resources to the execution of new projects, many of which will be built at CTS' Scotland facilities."

"The program focuses not only on maintaining the core competencies of each partner, but also on maximising sales, marketing and technological strengths across all of the partners' operations, utilising common resources to offer OEM customers a focused, well-managed and cost-effective supply chain for their products. Total revenue for the program is estimated at over $6 billion, which places the group among the top 10 EMS providers worldwide," Archer concluded.

CTS Interconnect Systems, headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland, designs and manufactures complex press-fit and surface mount backplanes, daughtercard assemblies and integrated interconnect systems. CTS Interconnect Systems is an operation of CTS Corporation, which is a leading designer and manufacturer of electronic components and assemblies for the communications, computer and automotive markets. The Company manufactures products in North America, Europe and Asia. The Company's stock is traded on the NYSE under the tick symbol "CTS."
