FOR RELEASE: Immediately
CTS Introduces New “Composite”
Piezoelectric Materials for the Medical Ultrasound Industry
Elkhart, IN…CTS Corporation (NYSE: CTS), a global leader in the design
and manufacturing of ceramic piezoelectric materials, wafers and components,
today announced the release of two new composite piezoelectric materials for use
in the medical ultrasound industry.
Piezoelectric composite materials consist of a piezoelectric ceramic in a thermosetting epoxy matrix. CTS’ new piezoelectric composite materials offer clear advantages over traditional monolithic piezoelectric ceramics, which are used by the medical ultrasound industry to improve imaging capabilities. These advantages include: lower material densities, enhanced electromechanical coupling factors, lower crosstalk, increased acoustic sensitivity, broader bandwidth and improved conformity to the backing material’s shape.
CTS’ piezoelectric composite materials are available in any material formulation and can be prepared as a bare element or with electrodes made of sputtered nickel, tin, nichrome or gold. They are available in various thicknesses down to 0.005 inches. CTS also produces a wide range of surface finishes compatible with next-level assembly.

new composite piezoelectric materials, please contact Scott Hulick at (505)
