Job/Position Summary
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer evaluates process performance to customer specifications and outlines process improvement activities which are consistent with DMAIC and lean methodologies to ensure continuous improvement and product cost goals are met. Senior engineers will coordinate the activities of technicians to optimize selected processes. Provides input in the development of new products or processes as required. Provides support to engineers and technicians in training, problem solving, product or process characterization, design and development, process efficiency improvements and continuous improvement activities. Must be able to mentor and coach peers and subordinates in process characterization and continuous process/product. In all activities, some travel may be required. Must function effectively in a fast paced, diverse, team environment. Must be a reliable self-starter, detail oriented with excellent follow through and strong oral and written communication skills with a high sense of urgency.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Responsibility 1 – Manufacturing Process Control – Percentage of Time = 40%
- Responsible to enter/create all methods of manufacturing, and controlling revision levels of parts and review and interpret associated specification into the MRP/ERP/Document Control System.
Responsibility 2 – Product or Process Definition – Percentage of Time = 40%
- Assures product and process quality by defining process steps; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes; defining elements of process and establishing needed operation instructions and routing for those processes.
Responsibility 3 – Capacity Analysis and Optimization – Percentage of Time = 10%
- Assists in the analysis and planning of work force utilization, space requirement, workflow, and layout design of equipment and workspace.
Responsibility 4 – New Product Transition – Percentage of Time = 10%
- Interface with New Product Engineering to define transition from development to full scale manufacturing. Coordinate pre-production and testing with operation teams resolving any non-conformances, quality, and productivity issues

Education and Experience
- Senior Process, Material, Mechanical or Chemical Engineer- BS degree in related field with 5+ years of experience in a technical field. In depth knowledge of materials and processes. Working knowledge of analytical tools and statistical techniques. Good work habits and communication skills are required. Able to work independently as well as in team environment is necessary. Demonstrated and documented ability to innovate and solve technical problems. Good computer skills (MS Office) and MRP System experience a plus.
Working Environment
- Occasional exposure to lead, dust and higher than normal temperatures is possible.
