About the Job / Position Summary:
Works in conjunction with other team members to improve customer satisfaction, and reduce cost of quality through waste reduction, Plan and implement continuous improvement activities.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Lead/participate in problem solving activities: Leads and participates in problem solving activities to address deficiencies in production performance vs established goals. This includes customer and internal issues and supplier quality issues. Activities are short and long term, formal and informal.
- Lead/participate in continuous improvement activities: Leads and participates in continuous improvement activities. These activities are proactive, rather than reactive, in nature as much as possible. Subjects of continuous improvement activities include Value Stream Mapping, cost reduction through VA/VE, suggestions to eliminate waste in process, and quality improvement/ variation reduction initiatives.
- Provide significant direct everyday support and guidance to manufacturing personnel.
- Establish and communicate quality standards: Establishes quality standards and communicates them to involved personnel. This activity includes a wide range of activities from establishing visual standards to disposition of MRB’s.
- Communicate with Customers and Suppliers Quality issues: Communicates with both customers and suppliers on quality-related concerns, quality system improvement, and continuous improvement projects. Represents the company in this regard. Activities include negotiation of quality standards, establishing mutual action plans, and making presentations.
- Create and maintain quality system documents: Creates and maintains documentation as required by ISO9001 and our own company needs. These activities include preparation of PPAP’s, creation and revision of Control Plans, Flow Charts, gage studies, SPC charts, and other assigned documentation.
- Gather data and prepare reports for management on quality metrics and other company quality activities/issues.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities and Requirements:
- Technical or industry specific job knowledge: Ability to analyze, process and apply large amounts of complex information, advanced statistics.
- Work experience in electronic manufacturing environment. Ability to learn and develop a reasonable understanding of the technology of CTS electronic products.
- Judgement and analytical conceptualization abilities: Good understanding of cause and effect relationships that will provide the skill to identify and solve problems.
- Ability to proactively develop new ideas / methodologies: Self-motivated and results oriented, proactive with good planning and follow-up skills.
- Project management capability requirements: Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects/tasks
- Verbal / written, negotiation skills, presentation skills, etc.: Able to communicate and write effectively resulting in a clear understanding of the issue.
- Coaching, Mentoring, performance management responsibilities: Ability to lead or influence individuals and groups
- Travel, foreign language competence, etc.: Must be willing to travel as needed.
- Hand’s on direct involvement attitude.
- Good technical understanding of quality. Capable in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, six sigma principles, etc. Able to plan meaningful experiments and analyze data with mathematical tools.
Education and Experience:
- MS in Engineering
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Quality Engineering: Minimum Time Requirements: 3-5 years
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to travel freely throughout the production facility
- Must be capable of two-way communication
Working Environment:
- Must comply with CTS protective equipment requirements and area access restrictions
- No long term exposures to unusual environmental conditions
