Motor Position Sensors

Electric motor

Main Content

CTS develops and manufactures state-of-the-art motor position sensors for current and next-generation electric motors. Our motor position sensors apply the principles of induction and Hall-effect sensing to measure the angular position of the rotor, allowing the motor controller to calculate its exact rotational speed. These calculations are then used for precise motor control adjustments, optimizing power delivery, smoothening acceleration and deceleration and enhancing regenerative braking.

CTS motor position sensors provide highly accurate measurements for electric motors in applications such as:

  • Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (EVs)
  • Aerospace Actuators
  • Industrial Drives
  • Micromobility
  • Marine Propulsion Systems
  • Military and Defense

High-Speed Motor Position Sensors

CTS high-speed position sensors are devices used to accurately measure the position of an object or component in real-time, particularly in applications where rapid movements occur. These sensors are designed to provide precise positional feedback at high speeds, enabling control systems to respond quickly and accurately to changes in position. Today, the high-speed sensors are finding themselves in traction motors for electrified powertrains with CTS solutions being developed for side mount and end of shaft applications.
