Soft Ferromagnetic U-Shield

Designed for planar current sensing in combination with a Hall sensor, AMR sensor, and a busbar conductor. The U-Shield protects the sensor from parasitic magnetic fields caused by magnetic field sources.

 

U-Shield

The U-Shield is a soft ferromagnetic shield featuring superior material characteristics such as high linearity and very low hysteresis. The shield is designed for planar current sensing in combination with a Hall sensor, AMR sensor and a busbar conductor. The U-Shield protects the sensor from parasitic magnetic fields caused by nearby conductors or other magnetic field sources while at the same time it enhances sensitivity and signal-to-offset ratio of the sensor.

What are Soft Ferromagnetic Shields?

Shields are additional components in a current sensor that protect the sensor from external magnetic field sources that disrupt operations. Made up of soft ferromagnetic materials to help magnetize flux frequencies that are desired while blocking the frequencies that are not inside the shield.

Some CTS shield designs utilize laminated materials. Our lamination designs use stacks of tightly bonded materials like iron, effectively preventing external flux from disrupting current operations.
